STORY

NigSek the Monster, a Spirit of Good who has existed since the birth of the land of IZSAMI, has lived inside the IZSAMI Dome for the past two years.

His acceptance into the IZSAMI Dome - the absolute center of power, energy, intelligence and home to the most highly advanced creatures in the whole of ISZAMI - was a reward granted to him by the spirits of the IZSAMI Dome, in return for his good deeds along with Link, Mentia, Siriee, Pengal and Nektaa the dragon, who saved IZSAMI and Hyrule from the growing tyrrany of the Angels Four.

And yet after all these years, NigSek has fully understood the true meaning of being alive. His life in the Dome, intellectual though it is, is dull. He strives continually to savour the outside life again, to travel the land and see new sights. And, most of all, to see his old friends again.

One day, while talking to one of his old companions in the Dome, though, something happens. The entire Hylian world's balance of time begins to shift and buckle, and NigSek is suddenly whisked away from IZSAMI and the world into a bright, mysterious realm. In here, voices talk to him though his mind, telling him unbelievable things and explaining the reasons why the world is suddenly changing for the worst.

"We have taken you from your time to help amend a mistake in the discovering. Link, the Hero of Time, has disappeared from history entirely. What he has achieved in his lifetime is now unravelling."

Without Link, the voices explained, Hyrule and the rest of the world would lay in turmoil. The good deeds he has done would never have happened, and all the powerful evil beings throughout the Hylian world's history - like Ganon and the Angels Four - would never have been stopped from carrying out their doings.

To solve this, they say, NigSek has to be returned through Hyrule's past - before the Hero of Time was born - and to prevent him from being removed from history, by an assassin yet to be identified. Without hesitation NigSek agrees to this - until he realises that his physical form needs to be changed dramatically so that he can carry out his task successfully...

CONTROLS

Control for NigSek: A Monster's Tail is extremely simple:

The Arrow Keys - or the Numerical Pad - are used to move around (Up, Down, Left and Right).

The Return or Space Bar are used to execute commands, talk, jump, use items, push switches, e.t.c.

The Escape Key (Esc) is used to look at your Menu screen. From here, you can check your health and status, equip items, or to use other items in your inventory.

There are also other game options you can alter which have nothing to do with gameplay:

Press F4 to switch between Full Screen mode and Windowed Mode.
NOTE! Windowed Mode runs notably slower than Full Screen Mode depending on your PC's specifications. It is recommended to play NigSek: A Monster's Tail in Full Screen mode.

Press F12 to automatically exit the game and jump back to the game's title screen.

During play, the controls will be changed depending on the situation you will be in. The keys used will not change, but their actions will. In most cases the controls will be explained to you.

HOW TO PLAY

Gameplay in NigSek: A Monster's Tail is not linear. The game has a day- to- night system which is the key element to playing the game, which you will come to work your playtime around. The ultimate aim of the game is to await for the assassin to Link, the Hero of Time, to arrive - and you must stop him, no matter what.

This will not happen quickly. You will have several months between your arrival in Hyrule's past and when the assassin will arrive. Inbetween this time, however, you can do whatever you want. You can make friends in the community, or discover everything there is to discover in Hyrule, or prepare yourself physically and mentally for your battles to come.

After your first night in Hyrule, a day will begin in the morning. When you carry out your daily tasks or simply explore the world, the time will pass by until it reaches the beginning of night-time. When it reaches this time in the day, you must return to Hyrule Town to sleep through to the next day, at the Inn. When you awake, you have an opportunity to save your game and to begin a new day.

(Bear in mind that this is the only time that you can save your game, bar any special events during the game which allow you to save.)

This is, in a sense, how you progress through the game to your final destination. Anything you do within the days is unnesecary for heading to this goal, but it is worth exploring just to find things to learn about in the world, or to help with.

The Hylian calendar differs from ours in that each month has only seven days. There are twelve months to every year, though.

THE WAITING GAME
It takes a lot of patience and waiting to play this game. Many important events during the game take several days of in- game play to arrive to, and you will have to search and try to discover any new events that happen during the months. You will, in a sense, have to make your own entertainment during some large expanses of time in the game. Listen carefully to what people say on some days and where they might be - these can lead to many secrets and surprises through the game.

There are two women within Hyrule Town which will offer you advice and help, apparently. One can tell you of events which are yet to come - thus warning you beforehand if you need to prepare for such occasions - and one which can help you speed time up and skip whole days. Seeking these two out should be your first priorities.

There are, however, many events which will run automatically on certain days. You cannot skip these beforehand, and you must accomplish them when they arise. It is your duty to be well prepared on all occasions should the worst happen...

TIPS

Here are some handy bits of advice to help you for playing the game:

  1. If you do not have enough money to pay for a hotel room at nighttime, search the pot outside the building. Someone tends to put money in there, which will be enough to pay for a room. Alternatively, if you win Johannah's trust, she and Valser will allow you to stay in their house for free - but you will need to arrive home early if you do sleep at their house, as they lock their door fairly early in the evening...
  2. Just because the day is over doesn't mean that you have to rush straight back to Hyrule Town immediately. It is worth trying to find things out during the night, as many events only happen at this time...
  3. When someone asks you to an 'appointment' with them, it's absolutely best you keep your promise to meet them. You will not be reminded otherwise about special meetings you have to make, and missing them may involve in losing access to any future secrets or opportunities.
  4. Valser Ruth may offer you the opportunity for training practice during the game. If you do not have anything else planned for the day it is worth spending time at training to build up your levels. You will also be able to learn special moves this way that you wouldn't have access to learning normally...
  5. If you desire to know people better, talking to them a lot helps. You will make friends this way, and possibly get a reward out of it too.
  6. Search EVERYWHERE, EVERY DAY! Areas which look completely innocent on some days may contain a secret on other days.
  7. When about to fight a dungeon boss, it may be a good idea to leave the dungeon altogether and save your game before you attempt to tackle it, even though it will mean sacrificing another day. That way you will at least be able to jump straight back to it the next day.
